Without key figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually secures them a spot in the Conference League playoffs.
A further three points in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure direct entry to the last 16, especially following a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Seize the Moment
This match offered a platform for some of Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second game in succession.
The Shelbourne team that had finished their league season were outmatched even for a largely second-string Palace outfit. The visitors were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg problems.
Dominance Asserted from the Outset
Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward tap-in.
Youngster Adam Wharton went close minutes later, fizzing a powerful shot over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the referee waved away the appeals.
Ex-Arsenal man did not have wait long to get his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's effort had struck the post.
The home side were hanging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for two robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a header from a corner.

The match was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive evening for the visiting side.
