PSG Defeats Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Lift French Super Cup in Kuwait.
PSG has now won the prestigious trophy on fourteen different times.
The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup title.
The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the match featuring the French league champions and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring in the opening stages.
However, Marseille fired twice late to seize a shock advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.
In a breathtaking twist of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial equaliser in the dying seconds to force the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.
From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 shootout win.
The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the 12th time in the past thirteen seasons.
