Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has outperformed his teammate at all of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the points lead from Piastri by one point after taking the win in Mexico City a fortnight back, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before sprint qualifying due at the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, lying 36 points behind Norris, finished in P17 as his team opted for a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, if briefly, when he lost control at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before rotating through the run-off area, and was fortunate to get away with just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the practice, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho turn leading to the last turn on to the main straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, 0.619secs behind Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
